Ok I've had my EL for a few months now and I'm really starting to miss the manual from my EA. Since I hav the EA's T5 sitting in the shed I thort I'll go n see what it'll cost me to get it put in. My mac said about $500 as long as it all goes good...

So should I put the EA T5 in the EL, Or try and dig up an EL T5, Or keep it Auto??

I was told $550 for an EF T5, is there any differece btw the EA and EF boxs??

apparently the ratios differ slightly,
If the EA box is in good nick, fit that with a new clutch and cable, get a manual ECU ( or mod yours )

i agree with SiX, if your EA T5 is in good nik i'd use that. Sell ya 4 speed to re-coupe costs maybe..

deffinately go 5 speed tho!!

yeah i agree with that.. as long as the ea t5 is in good condition put it in. if its not so good i would probably buy a ef or el t5 gearbox

i'm also considering same, does anyone know for sure what needs to be done with computer? is it just a matter of chopping wires for reverse switch and neutral switch and hooking those four wires plus three for speedo, and leaving the rest redundant, what about using an EA 3.9 mpi manual computer in a 4.0 any issues?

yeah I rember reading some where in here that you don't hav to change the ecu. that you can fool it or somthing..

Also is the tail shaft thingy (the pice of pipe the goes from the tranny to the diff) is the same lenth for the manual?? A friend was telling me that he thinks its longer in a manual..

As for the EA T5 I hav it just need the slectors reset of something like that. but yeah I was thing for seeing if I can swop over the EA T5 for an EF/L T5 coz I think the ratios are different...

Ok I hav:
EA T5 tranny
Cluch and cluch plate from EA
Cluch peddel and cable from EA
Tail Shaft from EA (not sure if I need this)

I still hav all the bolts and evey form the EA.. So is this all I need or is there something I'm missing??
I just remmebered reading that theres some difference with the auto flywheel to the manual one. Is this right?
if so how much would a manual flywheel cost?? and a manual peddel box???
can some1 tell me how to mod/fool my auto ecu so I don't need a manual ecu... I don't think the EA ecu would b any good...

Only ea's run a differnt cross member for the manual..... Eb-el cross members are same manual or auto

but what is the peddel box thing?? where is it and whats it do??
