Is there a code stamped somewhere on a BA XT that tells you if you have a L.S.Diff.
So i dont have to go somewhere and lay out rubber to fine out.

Should be a code on the diff housing.

There should be a wide tag (about 20-25mm wide) sitting underneath the diff fill-up plug that indicates that it is an lsd diff. There is also a small tag (approx 10mm wide) located underneath one of the rear diff housing plate bolts that has what ratio the diff is. This applies to the older diffs (like most of my cars, eg EA-ED). I think EF-BA have stickers on the axle housing (right-hand side) that indicate ratio. I think from memory (AU utes anyway) that AU's still had the lsd tags under the fill-up plug. I don't know if this is any help to you Davo, but it couldn't hurt to have a look under your car to see if there is any tags/stickers on the diff.

Interesting info guys. When you option the LSD you want to make sure they have put it on. I didn't think to check near the diff housing. Although I do know that Ford fitted an LSD on my car .

On the subject of diffs, are the ratios the same on all LSD's or are XR different to XT?

Looks as if the ratios are the same between manual XT 220's and the XR8's. Autos get a different final ratio.

Still trying to find out if the ratio in the new M86 (IRS) LSD can be changed and how difficult it would be. Keen to swap cogs to a more realistic 3.73 (instead of a 3.23 or 3.45) which in a Boss 290 would make for some interesting off the line/out of the hole performances.

Not really, the BOSS engines are very torquey, low-down, a 3.73 diff won't really benefit them that much
