Longest ownership of your Ford??

How about a good topic to start off life in here....just wondering how long members have been Ford nuts and how long have you owned one car. Myself, started off a long time ago and my first car - I still have it
Got it in June 1983, so that is coming up 29 years

Re: Longest ownership of your Ford??

My father had worked for Ford for 11 years when I was born in 1968. Fords and Mercs were ALL he would own. Worked on the steering column assembly line until 1973 when he was killed in an industrial accident working for another company during a lay-off period. I grew up with Fords.
I became a Chevy guy in my teens and have stayed with them for years, only recently returning to my roots.
Cars are in my blood. After my father was killed, my mother's brother became one of my heros. He owns a performance muffler business in Texas and has been installing performance exhausts for over forty years...builds and tunes headers BY SIGHT.
I grew up sweeping that shop and working on cars of all makes and models...as have my three boys. We are all pretty good with vehicles.
Make and model does not matter to me. Cars are just nuts and bolts. They all operate on the same principals, but Ford seems to be a little deeper embedded in my blood for some reason...

Re: Longest ownership of your Ford??

My first car was a '77 Buick Regal. I bought my first Ford in '80 after it got totaled. I then bought an MG Midget which got wrecked a few months later and bought a '76 Chrysler Cordoba. Every car I've owned since then has been a Ford product except for an '84 Mazda B-2000 pickup. The longest I've owned a Ford product or any other make for that matter is the '88 Ford Escort Pony I bought in September '93. It had 146K miles on it at the time, I'm still driving it almost 18 1/2 years later and it currently has 518,5XX miles. I currently own 6 Fords 2-'88 Escorts, 1-'94 Escort, 1-'97 Escort, 1-'02 Escort and 1-'96 Contour. Over the years I've owned GM, Chrystler, Ford, Mazda and MG and have been better satisfied with the Ford line for dependability than any other brand I've owned. Other than the Fords I currently own, I've owned a '76 LTD and a '76 Linclon Mark IV, but my dad owned all Ford products except for 1 car since I can remember. The first car I remember him having was a '61 Falcon, afterwards he owned a '66 Fairlane, '68 Mercury Montego, '68 Falcon, '74 LTD, '94 Escort (given to me by mom after dad's death) and a '99 Mercury Grand Marquis. Mom still has the '99 Grand Marquis. The only car that I remember dad owning that wasn't a Ford product was either a '78 or '79 Buick LeSabre he bought used, he had more trouble with it than any of the Fords he ever owned.
