i have lost my bloody keys! i have no idea where they are and my eb2 is stuck outside a mates house. what do i do? im not sure how or where to get a new key cut?

Is there a place that could do some thing out of normal bussiness hours, can i hot wire it to get it back home? i'm really not sure what to do. cheers!

It would have smartlock, you are in big trouble, I doubt even RACV can help.

yeah im pritty sure it does have smart lock. it's a dec 92.

Your going to have to pull out the ignition lock and take it to a locksmith, or get them to come out.

Or get one from the wrecker and reset the smartlock.

i would like to be able to keep the same key for doors and ignition.

would it be more cost effective to pull out the ignition lock and take it to a locksmith or get a lock smith to come to me. how hard is it to get the ignition lock out?

don't want it towed home, i would prefer to keep $$$ as low as i can.
can any lock smith cut a ford key, there weird keys?

It's a long shot but give Ford a ring with your VIN. They might have the key's code on record. If you have the code another can be cut.

What Fairmont 1998 said, go see your local dealer, they will be able to cut you a new key providing you can prove you own the car Eg. rego papers and your licence should do it!

Id be surprised if Ford keeps record of every single key, but worth a try I guess. That would be above 500,000 records for the Tibbe key Falcons.

It would be more cost effective to take the lock to the locksmith, instead of him coming to you. And not everyone are able to cut a Ford key.

The hardest part of getting it out is undoing the shear bolt, which is a bolt that the head shears off after at a certain tension. Its so its not easy to remove the ignition.
Just get a hammer and a punch or even a screwdriver and tap the top of the bolt in the direction you want to turn it. Its not that tight in my experience so it shouldnt be that hard, just time consuming.
