hey guys,
Talking to a few mechanics, about an engine managment system for a 6cylinder with a turbo kit/setup..

and they say to me a Microtech LTX 12 as a cheap ems

they told me it would be perfect.. and that i can get one for $970 and get it installed and tuned it for about $250.. so it works out fairly cheap..

My mechanic seems to think it will be easily tuned to run with bigger injectors and also
be able to tune it so it passes emissions..

Anyone know much about these ems's and if they are any good and worth it
??
i dont want to fork out 1000 bucks and not have it do the job properly..

i have an Au XR6 and its only a low boost system, like 6 to 7psi

Well $250 for installation might be right but don't expect any real tuning to be doen for that. Most quotes I have had doen say $5-600 for NA tunes and a bit more for forced induction.

The EMS is around $900 for the basic stinger and $1300 for the 8860 from memory with very similar features to the Microtech.

You get exactly what you pay for , spend $250 to get it installed and tuned and thats about what you will get.

Pass emmisons - not a chance in hell , system is very crude in its control , awesome thing on a rotary where you just keep pouring fuel in and htye respond .

Looks like ford and GM dont really need to spend millions on ECU developmet after all .

Yeah exactly, I also can't see anywhere that states it has open/closed loop operation which as far as I am aware is required to pass emissions. Thats why EMS state that they are only for off-road use, haven't checked what microtech say.

Well will the ems 8860 pass emissions or run well with the set up?
anything upto 2k installed would be alright..

8860 still doesn't have open/closed loop operation so from what I have been told will not pass on later model cars, but I am not 100% sure if that is correct though.

I looked into the EMS 8860.. and spoke to a few guys that have them and according to them they are excellent..
AND you can have them tuned to pass emissions.. but once it pass's you have to get it re tuned so the car will run properly again..
( i could always put an aircompressor into the exhaust hahaha)

As far as i know to get it engineered i need to have an emissions test which is why im so fussed.. unless i can find a dodge engineerer lol.

but ive also herd because im leaving the original engine that came out in the car.. i just need to get it engineered without the emission testing..
