First of all i'd like to say that sunday (@ heathcote) was a great day and was an eye opener for me. It was good to talk to other E series owners and everyone I spoke to was really friendly. Can't wait till the next meet.
Down to business tho after three runs my car second run of 16.47 @ 83Mph was the best which I think was ok but by V8 standards prob a little slow :(
Was wondering if anyone can suggest the best value for money modifications I can do to my car to break the 16 second barrier. At the moment car is stock except for ELGT extractors and 2.5" exhaust. Car is on gas too but best time was reached running on petrol.
any suggestions i'm thinking that I might put in pod air filter and bigger throttle body and MAF. Would this make a difference? or do i have to get serious and change injectors, manifold, heads etc??
sorry about the lengthy post
Also to put a face to my name i'll post a pic of my car
cheers

Nice car! mines on the left of that pic (unfortunately just a straight 6). Sounds like your car should run better than that for a V8 with extractors and exhaust. Sorry i can't help out i'm pretty lost inside an engine..... Great mags tho

your mags are nice too. Seems like the 6 goes just as well as the 8?? or maybe my motor is a little tired? It could probably do with a tune up but I don't know who is the best to take it to? I'm a bit worried about getting ripped off :/

I'd look at a MAF, have you seen how tiny the inlet hole on them is? An electronic shift kit would help times a lot.
Also, look at either a new filter, or a ram pod, or some sort of cold-air intake. At a recent dyno day we had, a brock EA gained 10kw without an air filter, and K&N filters flow similar amounts as not having a filter.
If you want to go faster, you will need to look at changing your heads, throttle body, manifold. The heads are extremely poor flowing, and is a major restriction of making power. Changing injectors doesn't actually give you more power, unless your car is leaning out at high RPM. Maybe look at Pacemaker headers, and a twin 2 1/4" exhaust later on.
The weight of the gas tank wouldn't help much.
Finally, this is only done with a stopwatch, but I've done a couple of 15.9's, at about 80mph, and my car is stock as, just 17's.
Hope this helps

a tune-up specialist would be the go... as for who... well, it's the luck of the draw in my opinion if u don't have a mechanic friend. Me next upgrade will be a bigger air intake coz i figure with extractors it'll make a difference. i wish i knew what budget upgrades are available to save up for. i think i've gotten ripped off almost as many times as i buy things. But i always go for the good quality brands.

Mate this is a little sad, my mates ebXR8 ran 15.5 standard and it was auto.Get it dyno run to check the power first, than make a new MAF you heard right make it, remove the sensor from the maf very carefully so you dont damage the wires and get a piece of 3 inch pipe and weld a flat plate to the side of it, then drill a hole for the sensor to fit threw then mark the holes for the sensor to bolt up and secure the sensor to the pipe, then refit the new maf

Mate, stuff the ELGT extractors, I bet you a set of Herrods or a decent afttermarket ban and you'd be flying.
Your V8 may not be quicker than a six stock (basically) but you'll be beating them with some mods mate.
Mason.
The above mod actualy works well and costs about $25,most people will tell you that you need to buy a bigger maf, that maybe true latter but for now the 75mm hole will allow alot more flow than the 45mm hole in the standard one. My mates auto end up running 14.4 with these mods.
3.7 diff gears, cobra manifold,cold air intake,chip
If you have trouble understanding how to make the Maf just let me know
