Re: More EF Falcon problems

i'd only get new ones, they are not cheap (around $250 for the pair retail if my memory serves me correctly) and not the easiest job to replace,, do one side at a time with a jack taking the weight of the engine.. I hated doing them even on the hoist but they make a huge differnce to idle quality

The above post refers to EF-EL mounts

tibbo, we did the foot on the brake and floor it test to see if the engine twists much, and it didn't move much at all. Would it be the same problem in the EA u reckon?
I wouldnt think so, the idle issue seems to be an EF-EL thing due to the design using oil dampeners opposed to the rubber on the early series.. Did you give it a good hit out in reverse aswell?

Re: More EF Falcon problems

Is that the same price for EA-ED ones? What process is it to fit them?

Re: More EF Falcon problems

nah the earlier ones are heaps cheaper and heaps easier to fit, as EFFFalcon said, 3 bolts onto the block and one bolt thru the craddle...

Re: More EF Falcon problems

Yeah it must be a EF-EL thing, cos my bro has shocking idle on his yet it's at the right idle speed, and it's got a new head and spark plugs in it. Whats the go with the engine mounts, are they really that bad?

Re: More EF Falcon problems

i replaced the EF mounts every 6 months without fail so thats around every 60k and by then they were gone or at best starting to affect idle quality

I believe its only the EF mounts that are hydraulic and I think are more like $300 a pair (with good ol' Ford markup). The EL went back to the simpler mounts and cost bugger all. I believe these mounts are interchangable (i.e. stroff off the hydraulics in your EF and get some EL mounts)

Xrated: i think steve might have some EA-ED ones for sale, unsure if he's been able to swap em for the EF/EL ones.

Yep Ford wised up to the failure and resorted to chunky rubber jobbies with flanged feet for the EL's
