HI ALL
i need a more powerfull alternator for my XF FALCON. I curently have the standard alternator with a smaller pulley on it, but it still dosent do the job.
Is there another more powerful alternator out there that will bolt straight on in it's place without have to go changing brackets.

I have a Bosch Universal 85 A alternator on my 351. Same as a TS Magna 4 cylinder. I think they fit all Fords with a spacer (supplied) and if you take the spacer out, all Holdens, they are universal, part number BXU85

I think the efi XF's had a 115amp alternator

im running an EF 110 amper.. all i done was change the pully on the alternator to a v one and bolted it onto the bracket.. slight moding required.. its on a cortina 250 they have a differnt mount

Take your alt to a auto elec and have him change the delta(I think) wiring
That will make it 110amp. I did this on my XF years ago

This is good but doesn't allow it to operate effectively at lower rpm, and they dont last as long. They tend to burn out. Use EF onward alternator, alternatively, EA Fairmont use a 85A Bosch type which bolts straight on. Hope it helps.

These part numbers are usually stamped on the top of the alternator

Another way of telling is the width of the stator. Less amps = thinner

u could try to get it rewound a mate doen thsi to his about $100 im planning tto do it as i wan to keep mine as its crome and they will be abl eto get more amps or ive seen a secound one used wer eteh aircon was mean to go
