MP3's in a BA

Hey all,
I'm looking at replacing my tired 325,000 km EF with a BA XT soon. I do a lot of freeway driving (obviously) and enterntainment is very important for me, hence I have a Sony MP3 head unit, amp, sub, decent splits etc in the EF.

I've spotted the integrated stereo in the BA's and also read here about people fitting head units beneath the stock one. Also read that the standard unit has a line input thats a decent candidate for an external MP3 player.

So, just wondering if anybody has done something like an iPod connection to the stock unit? Perhaps a glove box or console mount, and a wired remote on the console or something? I don't want to butcher the car, but still want decent audio. Any other suggestions for semi-integrated MP3 audio?

Re: MP3's in a BA

An iPod transmits to your car radio as an FM station (doesnt it?).. So thats an easy way of having 100s of songs at your disposal, without playing round with anything in ur car. U'd probably just want to put some decent speakers, which ud do anyway by the sounds of it..
Cheers

$27 from Ford gets you an Auxillary Audio connection (from parts) or you can option it from new.

It connects under the steering column, and gives you a stereo "AUX Input"

Re: MP3's in a BA

I have the Aux input on my XT sports.
thers a 3.5mm socket behind the tissue holder which will accept audio out from any device.
I dont have mp3 player but have used it witha radio scanner and a cassette walkman when i want to hear a particular tape i dont have on cd. works good.

Re: MP3's in a BA

The FM transmitter really should be a LAST resort (from experience).. go for direct AUX input if you can
