So, what needs to be done and how much does it usually cost? Can anyone recommend a good place to get it done in Adelaide (preferably in/near city)?

i've noticed mine clunking a bit lately too... haven't had it tested yet, but will be doing soon.. that dull thud is really getting annoying.

It's a TM in Ford, the diff clinck when you reverse. Don't worry too much about it, it can last for 250,000+KM.

what about take off from say 80km/h to 100km/h (you know merging on to freeway), i do this and when i lift off the accelerator (sp?) i hear this faint THUD. It's a little annoying and concerning. I also get the THUD when selecting reverse (softomatic) after on a warm start.

I've got this too - while not as noisy nor brash as the AU, its still annoying.

its on my list for the 15,000 km service.

45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...

Thats exactly what i've got.. its at around 80km's when you accelerate, the thud is the most noticable.

Ah ok so it isn't an isolated problem. I will also get it done at the 15000 service (just hit 10000). Also noticed that the car seems a bit sluggish as well on certain speeds. Like it takes a higher gear and keeps it (thats why i should have gone manual). Oh well get it all checked out.
