just finished installing my edelbrock performer and holley on my xw with a 302w and im wondering how the hell i get the idle down

i dont have a tacho but it sounds like about 1300-1500 and the idle screw is fully backed off.any one else had a similar problem??

and abut the mounts I was in the garage and wanted to see if it gained any balls so i stalled it up slowly...foot on the brake, i just wanted to see if i spin the back wheel (single spinner diff) then back off but both wheels went nuts then the engine lifted up on to one side and kept revving after i backed off so i turned the car off.
its scared the shit outta me cos the car was sliding forward (brakes locked)
would i be right in saying the engine mounts are ****ed??

Sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Make sure that you have not left any vacuum ports uncovered in the holley as their are a few and missing one will allow the engine to rev in this manner.

ya right i found a open vacuum port on the holley thanks mate

a little extra on the mounts problem
not having the sway bar connected wouldnt make a diffrence would it??

For some tyre burning i used a strong chain [1 inch approx] connected to the chassis and then to engine. Works great presuming you�re engine isn�t too powerful their wouldn�t be any problems. Connect a chain from where the engine was rising, say the engine turns clockwise sitting in the car place the chain on the other side.
Worked great for me on a 12.4 second car with no problems for two years.

Make sure your linkages havnt come apart as this is what happened when my mounts broke and the carby was stuck at open throttle, the fan went straight thru the radiator hose too.

what linkages do you mean?
thats the same as what happened to me
i can feel scratches in the bottem of the hose so proberly not as extreme as in your case
