It's the factory fitted model on a BA XR6. Damn thing is stuck open. Took it to the ford dealer today and they said I'd have to drive it to their sunroof people, or leave it with them overnight, and they'd organise it. Sorry guys, gotta get to work somehow.
It's not responding to any of the buttons. Does anybody have any experience with these things? or have had this happen to them and know how to fix it? Otherwise I'll have to take it to this shop tomorrow, and hope they can repair it there and then.
I had a problem with my sunroof on the car below. It didn't get stuck open, but it wouldnt shut without a lot of dramas - if that makes sense... Basically it would keep trying to shut, from tilt and from being fully open, but would not actually engage and keeping opening and shutting, even after the ignition was turned off and key taken out. I was told by the dealer that the sensor that detects objects in the area was very sensitive and it was a safety thing - ie, if there was a finger in there, it would not allow itself to shut.... anyway, they fixed it first go and never had a problem since.
I don't think this is your problem though, it sounds like the sunroof had better be seen to asap by the sunroof people....and hope it doesn't need replacing! Maybe they can reprogramm it like they did with mine, and it will go back to normal...
Anyway, good luck!

I was told by a New car salesman that if u chose a sunroof for e.g. it would not necessary be factory fitted unless u stated so. Some dealers have lets say sunroof shops install them and make it look good by giveing u a waranty,
Please someone out there correct me on this as this is bad news for new car buyers

My sunroof was installed in the FPV factory, where most of them are. However, sometimes there is a backlog of cars sitting there waiting for sunroofs (sp?) and they are brought to the dealers and done by a sunroof co in the town of delivery... so I heard anyway. I know mine was done at FPV coz my car was damaged when it was done, and it ended up with a crap respray before it left Melbourne....

Thanks XRchick. I've had nothing but problems with the sunroof. the interior sliding panel always comes off it's rollers and gets stuck, so now i just leave it open the whole time, now this.
I had a problem with my factory fit sunroof getting 'lost' and not knowing if it is opened or closed.
The fix was to remove all power from the sunroof to allow it to reset.
Just disconnect the battery or pull the fuse for a while.
Worth a try.

Do you get any sounds of activity, even if no action (i.e. like the motor is *trying* to move it?)
