When does the NCAP ratings come out for Large cars and what do you think the BA model will rate, 4 or 5 stars ??????????

I was about to post the same question until I spotted your post. My rumour/gossip is that a 4.5 star rating is the minimum the Ford guys are hoping for???. The lack of a proper foot rest for the driver was in part to remove one potential source of foot injury, although I think I would rather have the foot rest back, especially in an auto.

Unless they tested it with side airbags I doubt the BA will see much over 4 stars.

Until it goes off when your t-boned...shocking accident in Melbourne this week where a rubbish truck rammed an old Falcon (i think EA) which allegedly did a last minute right hand turn in front of the truck. End result, a very traumatised truck driver and three dead men in the old Ford. RIP.

Who remembers the post about the journo who rolled a current 7-series BMW at very high speed. Not one panel left straight and its million or so airbags went off. The driver walked away with an arm injury i think, although I think those in charge of the press fleet might have wanted to kill him instead.

I remember... though it wasn't a case of the BMW having a 'million' airbags. Though 10 airbags sound like a lot, it's nothing more than dual front bags, and upper and lower side airbags for all 4 outboard occupants. Nothing my friend's base model C Class Mercedes can't equal. I remember when the Renault Scenic was introduced, costing well under $30 grand, including side curtain 'bags.

The point is, this stuff is nothing special by the standards of overseas cars. The standards of safety features in Australian cars are low - end of story. It was only last year that something like a 'luxury' Ford TS50 had the same number of airbags (2) as a Daewoo Matiz, etc - the cheapest cars on sale at the time.
