I need help from any Ford Fairmont EB owners, on how much have you paid for major service and tune up for your Ford lately at a Ford center. I have rang up a few ford dealers and they quoted me $400 the max, now is this too high?
This is my first time servicing my 93 EB2. Not that I’m tight or anything just don’t want be ripped off.
Help on any recommendations which Ford dealer is good in Monash/chadstone area would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't own an EB but I think I'll just throw my 2c in. You don't have to have the car serviced by Ford, a lot of their service depts are too expensive especially since it's not too hard a job to do yourself......actually, when you say major service what so you mean? Just a handbook service, or is there some specific mechanical problems you want looked at?
If you don't want to do it yourself, ask around for a good mechanic. What I did was find an accredited RACV service centre in my area and the guys there do a great job doing things I'm not too confident in doing myself. Plus if it's an RACV centre and you're not happy with the work you've got the RACV to take it up with, as well as the mechanic.

EBII GLi got the full deal for approx $600, all new belts, transmission fluid, oil, 4x brake pads, and a lot more, the receipt is pretty long, basically the mechanic who owned the place was a friend of dads and he said do everything you can and i'll pay for it. this was at mermaid motors (i think) so a fair hike from any melbourne places, so thats pretty much the maximum figure possible though?
A service should cost you around $150-$200, as long as all goes well.
If you go through a Ford dealer? Yeah....lol.
Thought about having a crack at it yourself? Nothing on the EBs are that tricky, they still have the dipstick on the auto so that'll be easy to fill up, rear pistons need a special tool, but that's about it really.
My experience is that not only are the car makers' servicing departments frightfully expensive, but they aren't as thorough as you'd think.
A friend with a VS went through an upmarket Holden dealership, and it turns out they hadn't even bothered with basics like replacing the air filter... More of a scam than anything and guess who had to fix their mistake.

I had my AUIII VCT done yesterday. 45,000 service cost me just over $300. I had the injectors serviced as well and they did a few adjustments for me. All the usual parts and labour cost
Ford used to have the $99 service. I loved those days. By EA was well looked after.
On my extended warranty, I've been quoted $189 per service. Thats after my factory warranty ends. Maybe the $189 is an idication of what a basic service cost.
I know holden have a service for about $150. I assume they would service a ford. But can you trust a holden dealership??????
