Hey all,

Well the dealer called today and informed us that our new car should be ready next Wednesday - it seems a very long time ago it was ordered, but glad it's ready now !

Has anyone got any particular faults common to the BAs that I should check for on delivery ?

After writing up at least 15 damages/faults on my car I say the word "everything". Having said that in my experience this is highly unusual - my AU2 XR8 for example had ONE!

Yes. Check the indicator lenses on the front guards. If condensation exists inside ( after washing or rain ) , then get it replaced. It was a known fault in alot of these until recently ( both AU and BA ), but this problem has now been fixed ( mirror welding die temperature )

3 problems with Dad's BA:

1) "F" in F A L C O N is fixed on an angle.

2) At cruising speeds, the wind passing over the passenger door/roofline will cause a whistle, like a "toot" that can come and go at any time. Sometimes it lasts for minutes at a time. The last time I was driving the BA I was overtaking a Volvo & the whistle went "toot toot", & the people in the Volvo tooted back

3) Well this isn't specific to Dad's BA, but a general problem with the rangemeter for fuel is that they are innaccurate after the 100km reading (meaning, you've got about 100kms worth of fuel left in the tank). Some BAs have run out of fuel around the 80km mark.

If your car is mercury or ice-mint silver, check the paint thoroughly .... bumpers can be substantially darker than body, and prominent stripes down the doors from some angles.

Incidentally, I saw an AU XR8 the other day and it's bumpers were overwhelmingly different to the body, and it had stripes down the doors that were clearly visible in full sun from 30m away! (some BAs I've seen haven't been much better). I really don't understand how some of these cars get thru quality control.
