New BA Pickup- What to look for?

Hi All,

Picking up my XR8 Ute (auto) tomorrow (fingers crossed) and wanted peoples experiences on what details to look out for. Have written a checklist myself but I'm sure there are things I've overlooked.

Looked at the machine today fresh off the truck and they'd already curb-scraped an alloy (will be replaced). Another car there had been reversed around a post and had ripped the front bumper off and scraped down the drivers front clip. Bloody idiots.

Thanks in advance, will post pics ASAP.

That is exactly what I did when I picked up my ute, a checklist. No doubt you would have all the obvious checks already, paint, panels, interior, wheels tyres and I ussually have a good look underneath for oil leaks and scrapes or dings from being transported, I could not find a fault with mine at all. You will notice when you first drive it out of the yard how tight the engine is and the slow transmission changes but as mine ran in it loosened up a lot, still loosening up. Good luck with your ute Madder. I know you will enjoy it.
Cheers,
Rod.

Thanks Rod C,

Yeah I've done those basic checks already and besides the scraped alloy I was very happy with the paint and trim. Did notice a couple of dodgy rubber seal applications which are being fixed up.

The underside was perfect, not a scratch. It's going of for alarm fitment today so I'm giving them a warning to "bloody well take care OK".

Needless to say I'll be going through the list again today just to make sure they haven't screwed it at all, the butchers.

Assuming everything goes OK then it will a drive home, some joyrides with Mrs Madder around the local test track (hilly, windy backroad). Then it's pack up the stuff and off we go to Bendigo, just the thing to start that loosening-up.

Regards

Ah, the test track, I have a similiar one up here next time I go for a run around it I think I will leave Mrs rod c at home. Are'nt we going too fast is a common statement and my reply is no we are not it just seems like it because your the passenger.
