New Falcon?

I'm going to buy a new car later in the year.
Firstly, I drive a 2000 Commodore SS VX (V8) 225kw.

Obviously things have moved on from then, and FINALLY Ford have got their act together. No I was not going to buy a 2000 XR8.

Previously I've owned an XE84 and a Comm 92VP. Both Great reliable cars. My whole family was ford, but the last was the 92EB (sensational - father's still got it).

I've got a budget of 55k. I've read the turbo vs V8 discussion throughout here. Hm.. there's a question here:

Why should I buy a XR6/8 over an SS this time?

Power is one, although the extra weight of the BA does dull that. The xr6t looses 18inch wheels, sideairbags etc.... and it's not that much cheaper for me.

Just a question, but did you read the comparison that Wheels had between XR6T and SS? Id suggest reading that and theres your reason...

If taking the advice of the press doesnt ring your bell, then test drive, and buy the car that you would prefer to own. If the SS, to you, is the better car, then it is the better car, and then buy that.

The best way to decide is to drive them both.
Go a good road and then a crappy road. I am sure you will find the best car for you. If you go into the decission / testing with your eyes open then I am 100% confident that you will go the BA in any form over the Como... It is just soooo much better. IMO..

18"s are optional, as are side airbags I think (check the website.)

As the VY SS is essentially indentical to your VX SS, albeit with 10 more kW and a facelift (which you may or may not like) then I'd compare your current car after test driving a an XR6T/XR8 and see what you think of them on the road.

If you're into modifying your cars, then all 3 engines have lots of scope for improvement but it seems the XR6T has the best bang for buck in that department.

Why buy Ford instead of Holden?

One word: quality.

Ford aren't perfect but believe me there is a big difference!

For me the Fords interior is at least a class above the Holdens without considering how much better put together they are & the extra power,handling,looks etc
