We all know that the 6 speed auto gearbox will be released in a limited range of falcon vehicles (including territory's) at the sydney motorshow this year but i was wondering will ford also replace the current old 4-speed gearbox as well.
From what i've read and led to believe, the company which is contracted to build these boxes (ion) is going under, so how much pressure has this put on ford to find a replacement. Do Ford have enough of these stored for the next 2007 falcon?? What auto boxes does ford have that they could consider putting into our cars.
Will holden put the 5-speed standard in the new upcoming VE? And can FORD afford to lose sales due to the Marketing gurus at holden all over an auto box????

ION may be done for, but the division that makes the automatics is still profitable and will still be around for a long time to come.

It has been publically stated (meaning it's no secret) by the administrators handling the Ion fiasco that Ford's contract with Ion ends in 2007. Putting 2 and 2 together....safe bet that something else will be used past this date...
