Thumbs up NZinAUS at Oct 20 Heathcote drags

Due to an unexpected series of events, Karl (NZinAUS), Kenaz, DeadlyEB and I found ourselves in a largely stock manual EA amid crowds of some of the most extreme drag racers I have seen. One of them achieved a 400m time in the 8 second bracket during the day. There was not one other person there who I knew, either from FordForums, the E-Series Clubs or CCC.

Under the circumstances, I think it was quite courageous of Karl to choose to give his car a total of 3 runs. I don't have the precise times here, but I can proudly report that a 4 speed manual V8 VK only beat Karl by a small margin on 2 occasions. On the third, a seemingly heavily modified SSS from the Nissan Pulsar club was defeated by Karl by the tiniest of margins. At the same time, Karl hit the very low 16s (see pic).

I think this is to be applauded!

That's awesome dude....I'm so pissed off I didn't make it. I was on my way when someone told me that I had to be there at 8:30am to enter. Is this right??? I left home at around 10am I think so I figured there was no point just spectating so I turned around and went home again :( I was really looking foward to doing a few runs. I can't wait for the next event on the 24th, should be awesome. Hey are you allowed to have a sound system (sub box etc ) in your boot or does it have to be removed before you can race? Once again, well done NZinAUS.

That is great mate, so it looks like they dont put you against a 11 second car or anything, there are lots of cars around these times ?

No you don't have to be there untill 10:00am and it begins at 11 although cars were still rocking up at 12 and going through scrutineering and was going for a run when we left.

From what I got told if it's not bolted down it wont pass. Due to the fact that if you roll over, the boot could fly open and your stereo could fly out and injure a spectator. Not that you would want to roll over.
