Just wondering which oil filter is best for my Series 111 AU XR8 (Brand and code)??

I've gone to 2 spare parts places and both times they have given me the wrong one (too big!).

The only one that fits is a Z89A but the box doesn't state that it suits a falcon.

Also, please advise where the best place to get them would be (Sydney).

I have the same beast, Z89A is the correct filter, shorter body due to the oil cooler.
I use L14670 Purolator or their top of the line PL14670 Pure One. USA made and they also make them for Motorcraft USA. Autopro's sell them.

Yeah, I had to convince the guys at Ford Spare parts that an AFL1 is NOT the right one. Funny that the shorter filter costs twice the price or more!

yes so true AP, obviously the volume of the AFL1/Z9 is much greater than the other,hence the lower purchase price.

hey guys, i checked the ryco book at work, and it says that the Z9/AFL1, is the correct filter, explaining why the guys gave you the wrong one.
The old Z10 is a go-er, but i dont think they make it anymore.

PS. the filter im using on my Xy at the moment is a sakura, (genuine for nissan, mistu,mazda) and it seems to be fine i think its equiv to a Z139? which is the heavy duty Z9 made for the hilux's,etc

I'm afraid the book is wrong joe, Z9 cannot fit due to oil cooler fitted to 220kw engine.

Some after market outfits make 45 and 90 degree oil line blocks for certain engines. I thought I might eventually check that out so that a Z9 could be mounted in the upright position hanging downwards. The Z9 has the same micron rating but is bigger and cheaper. I intend checking all the clearances and making enquiries. Will post some time if I have success.
