Certainly sounds a good idea to me.
Check out the damaged car auctions, you may get lucky as since you're moving panels around etc you may find one that u can use ur old panels on, might be cheaper then you thought!.

if you were in adelaide id recomend you to a couple of guys, my mates dad does it at home (his got 7 sheds at home all equiped, had a car yard before) in acrylic for about 1400, my gf's cousin does it at work (spray painter) for 1700 in 2pak. pretty much any colour you want, pearl is a bit more. he quoted me about 2500 to do a full car, door jams, boot, bonnet, engine bay all in blue print with a gold pearl in 2pak, but thats more mates rates.
id say if you weant some were it would cost you bit more then 2500 for a basic 2pak paintjob.
plus why dont you get your windows retinted, the money spent on getting your windows retinted is almost the same as paying for someone to take out the back window and putting it another car, unless your gonna do it yourself.
