I have noticed a GT with the engine bay painted.
i have a XR8 with a matt black finish in the entire engine bay including under bonnet.
is it just my car or is this the fashion?
is it only FPV cars get the complete spray job?

Depends on the color I think. Painted engine bays may soon become standard from what i've heard.

Someone tell whoever painted my Pursuit engine bay that it's the "standard"!!... Looks like red oxide primer!.. From what I've seen, the darker exterior colours get Matt black engine bay, & the lighter exteriors get a "lick" of same colour but No clear coat!... This is Sheer utter "cheapskating" on a vehicle costing this sort of bucks!!

The colour you see in the engine bay is the base coat colour for your car. With dark metallics for example, the colour is like a mat black. Silvers use to have like a light grey colour. It is right to say it's cost cutting, not to put the final colour in there and Ford should do better, given the price of the cars.

The Falcon was the first car I have ever owned that was this cheaply finished.

I will follow the 'say nothing and don't regret it later' line on this one.

Just be glad we don't match some Japanese 4WDs I've looked at recently which includes some that are not painted inside the rear hatch jambs. The only gloss is on the panels external on the car!

Depends on who you know in the paintshop.....luckily for me someone "made a mistake" and I got paint & clear-coat as well.

I'll know to slip a crate of VB onto the line next time!

Makes me wonder, if it's possible to do for a few people, why can't they do it for FPV vehicles? It is really annoying to lift the bonnet at a show and present this cost cutting to the world.

One way around this is to order a HSV with base red. They gloss the engine bay for non-metallic colours.

What do you do with the rest of the car though?
