Caution - some of them could be water flooded insurance write offs, or could have had their factory warranty voided. I'd suggest checking these things out before buying.

BA XR6 - December 2002 ~ Soon to disappear if Ford CRC can't fix it....
45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...
I fyou look on the Pickles web site, most of the fixed price cars are ex-gov. So you are pretty right on what you are buying.
if any car is a Statutory right off, it will be stated on the listing of the vehicle.

Anyone bought an XR8 or Xr6/turbo from the Pickles Auctions.
I checked the local Pickles in Canberra this arvo and looked through their fixed price cars.
A mark or chip here or there, not much to worry about, but the price difference is quite substantial compared to a normal car dealer price.
XR6T blueprint with 20,000 07/03 build date for $33,300.
Of course their bog standard, no options are fitted to most of the cars.
I looked into the pickles cars at fyshwick fairly closely last year when it looked like I might have to arrange a novated lease on a work car. at the time there were some pretty nice Fairmont Ghias to be had for around 28 - 30 k with 15000-30000 ks on then (these were AUIII ) Pickles were prepared to hold the car while the novation documents were arranged by the leasing company etc and were very cooperative. The insurance write offs are usually sold at a separate auction so you only need to worry about how hard they have been driven by their former owners.

I recently bought a car from Pickles Canberra - an AU2. I also spent many weeks at the Melbourne and Sydney auctions. My advice is the fixed price option is a rip off.
On the day I bought my car there was an AU3 Ghia 25km which sold under the hammer for $21.5, two AU3 Futura with 16km/35km for $17.5 and $16.3. These Futuras had fixed price above $19k pre auction. Also, a Subaru Outback Limited 2.5 auto $21.5k - bargain with perfect condition metallic burgundy over gold.
My problem is I'm so fussy with what car I want and can never find what I truly want as my main car at auction.
