Ive just had a new muffler custom made by genie exhaust, the current hooker aero chamber muffler is WAY too loud, so i will get some pics of it and try and get some video of the car running\driving during the week

Cheers Marty
You better .......... Mine needs encouragement

Re: Pics of my XE Circuit Race Car,,nearly finished.

Looking really good mate,,love the colour, great roll cage.i like the rear wing.do have you mutch work to do on the driveline? looks pretty close to finished on the outside.

Can i ask you what you have for calipers/discs,,so far im just using the std stuff with better pads but im sure this is going to need a very big upgrade i think.
Are you using a toploader, if so i like your tall gearshift i think ill have to make one similar to that,,
Anyway great work mate, i cant wait to get out on the track but
having another xe out there will be even better

Re: Pics of my XE Circuit Race Car,,nearly finished.

HI aussie mart yep i run a top loader with custon rebar gear stick heated to red hot and bent in vice.If you make one yourself you might have to bend it once or twice until your happy with it.Brakes are au twin pots 300mm heattreated dba 5000 series with standard xf single pistons at the back. Before they changed the tyre size last year i went with these but now thinking of some brembo 6 pots on a 330 rotor and using my 16 inch v5 simmons dick johnson style rim.Rear spoiler is a swap meet special 20 bucks and the front bar is from easyglass in coburg,he still has the mould if your intrested.driveline is done runs 3.5gears xbgt tailshaft the big one mini spool standard axles. The car has been stripped back to bare metal totally even under the car no more body deadner at all.I have made a new fuel tank myself thats sits in the boot fits 75 liters, made the console to.the car has been totally rewired ,autolec did a really nice job.Engine was built by yours truelly being a engine reconditioner helps with costs. marty if you need to know any more info give me a buzz, what type of springs and shocks are you running sway bars ect would be good to know .Hear from you soon

Re: Pics of my XE Circuit Race Car,,nearly finished.

Thanks mate,,im only running a front sway bar at the moment and its a kmac adjustable,,it was a pain to fit because bends are not how they should be at the ends, it really looks like they stuffed it up,, anyway after lots of adjusting shortning of links and spacing the d mounts down it seems to be clearing. The front and rear springs are kmac 1100 pound front 300 pound rears and the shocks are koni sport,,ive had the rears revalved because the started life as xw leaf spring shocks, but it looks like the front will also need a bit more bump dampning,,
Ive also removed all the body deadner as well and i stripped it to a bare shell, painting it in the garage top and bottom was not fun,,being a mechanic and building the engine and gearbox myself like you does help with costs yes,,

My current drama is shutting it up,,with the car as low as it is there isnt mutch room to run the exhaust/muffler,,ive just installed a 20 inch long 3.5 inch single muffler which exits at the l/h/r behind the tyre,,i was thinking the longer muffler would shut it up but it hasnt done mutch at all over the 14 inch hooker i had in there,,it was easy on the xw because it didnt have chassis rails so i could run pipes out the side with 2 long mufflers.

Cheers Marty

No probs mate,,,When i got my coils i just rang up kmac and told them what i wanted,,i said i needed 3 inch lowered front and 2.5 lowered rear for xe circuit race car,,these springs are non progresive so the coil is the same thickness top to bottom,,i would now say i could have used 2.5 inch lowered fronts and 2 inch lowered rear,,,im using those 1100 pound fronts and 300 pound rears mainly because ive heard thats what has been used in the past on xe falcons,,ive spoken to rick kemp from koni and he agreed thats a good starting point.

I not sure what the db is yet im just going by my ears but it does sound very loud.

Old aero chamber on the left new muffler on the right. new muffler is 20 inches long old is 14,,still seems plenty loud.

Inside 3.5 inch aerochamber.

Inside new muffler.

New battery just fitted weighs just 6kg thats a saving of 11kg over old battery. Seems to crank over great.

Cheers Mate.

Re: Pics of my XE Circuit Race Car,,nearly finished.

Hey Trent,,cant wait to see some more pics of your car mate,,its looking great.
My main reason for runing a single system is just room, overall i think a twin system is better for overall power and keeping it quiet but i couldnt fit the two mufflers under car and still be able to get it out the shed or on a trailer due to ground clearance,,also if i put two mufflers were the xe normaly has them its very hard to route them out the back so i went with a single,,some small pluses are a slight reduction in weight and also i have the system offset to the passenger side oposite the drivers weight.

I think i know what you mean when you say thank god its nearly finished,,you may have thought a bit like i did when i started out,,its just a falcon it should only take 12 months or so,,its a pretty basic car really should be easy to get bits for it to put it together,,then i started looking at little things to improve on all the time,,arrrrrrrrrr,, Anyway nearly done

I may also be able to have it out for its first run on september 9,, is it a club day or an open day?.
I think wintons a good track to sort a car out,has some low speed corners and lets you push pretty hard without a fear of throwing your car away at 250kph.

Cheers Marty
