Re: Pics of my XE Circuit Race Car,,nearly finished.

Hi marty yep the sprint day is a bennala auto club day they have their own series 6 rounds a year.Hopefully i will be ready i will know in 4 weeks ,currently working on the brake system at the moment that will be sorted in 2 weeks time. And i still have to join a club and get a licence,im thinking of joining the ford four club they run a holden versus ford sprint series and looks like they might need a few v8 falcons to join in the battle.yet to get around to taking more pics, how does the rear go without rear swaybay does it suffer any snap oversteer?Chat with you soon

Re: Pics of my XE Circuit Race Car,,nearly finished.

hi marty its been a while! sorry for not getting back to you .Phillip island didnt go to bad had a few minor probs but all easly fixed .The car drove reasonably well but needs power steering to drive fast you will find that out straight away .Needs gear ratio change , another core bigger in the radiator some better pads and a driver with bigger balls. I only completed 5 laps on the day but i was happy not to damage the car when the steering lock came on turning into honda. All in all had a buzz and now have alot more respect for paid racers they are in a legue of there own. take it easy marty chat to you soon.

Re: Pics of my XE Circuit Race Car,,nearly finished.

Hi Trent, good to see you were able to get your car down there and on the track, thats the hard part. well done.. steering lock on,,lucky it was at honda and not turn 1:-) i removed my steering lock all together, i think this is allowed? saves an ounce of weight too.

What steering box are you running. i am using an xa gt 16.1 box in the xw i had a 16.1 box too and i know it is heavy. i do have a complete ps setup if i need it though.
And how did you find the rear end behavior to be.

What diff gears are you running and what revs did you end up with at the end of straight?
when i had this driveline in the xw at phillip i was pulling 6300 with a 3.00 diff gears and worked it out to be around 240 i think, how did you find turn 1 i found that one a bit daunting.

I have ended up with a set of hq pbr front calipers and comp 15 pads and some rb74 pads for the back, on the road this setup works amazing for the std disc sizes. when heat starts to get in. but will see what happens on track. what sort of pads are you using.

My radiator is from race radiators in dandy and its the same one i had in the xw, with this radiator i could run all day at phillip island without any fan it really worked well.

Anyway i'm hoping to get my car to winton over the christmas holidays i have a few weeks off, but will see what happens, i did have access to a f150 but things have changed so i have to sort out some transport at the moment thats the only reason i havn't run it yet.

Sorry for all the questions, speak to you soon.

Marty

You don't need to be a member of a Club to run at the Winton/Benalla Auto Club Sprints, just a CAMS L2 or AASA Club Licence, the AASA one is available on the day for $45, but the CAMS one is $90, you will need the CAMS one to run at Sandown and Phillip Island though.

My son and I also have an XE which we use over at Winton, we haven't gone to the effort and expense you have though. Ours is the bright Orange one. It is pictured on XFords and XFalcons forums.
