Re: plug and play ECU for EA to ED

ifyour using petrol you will require a MAF sensor as the MAP sensor wont like positive pressure

Re: plug and play ECU for EA to ED

The 8860 has an internal MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor which will read over 30psi boost. All I6 falcon engines are MAP based including the BA turbo. Nearly all aftermarket engine management systems are MAP based. I am primarily doing this for my turbo falcon setup. I am doing the setup in stages. First the EMS/adaptor harness, then turbo manifold/turbo running directly into a EF manifold. I will see how much power I get with the standard injectors with large fuel pump, then I will remove EF manifold and replace with EB manifold and cross flow bar and plate intercooler and big injectors. I reckon I'll get 600rwhp at the perth dyno wars once I'm done.

Re: plug and play ECU for EA to ED

Turbotrana I happen to live in n.s.w. (mid north coast) but i'm shore I could get some one to install/program it if it's pretty complicated. Also you said that the 8860 could control the manifold butterfy but you didn't say anything about altering the timing at the same time, I'm shore it probably can but i just want assurance.

Re: plug and play ECU for EA to ED

Smidy, installing the 8860 is simple.

The 8860 will control the manifold butterfly via engine RPM, the same way the factory computer does it. It will do the engine timing to a high resolution. I suggest you visit their web site www.enginemanagementsystem.com. You would have to get the computer direct from EMS. I would only supply the adaptor harness and supply the tuning program that suits the I6 to get it running straight away.

Regards

Re: plug and play ECU for EA to ED

dont know much about the EMS 4424. If you have a manual trans you get rid of the original computer when using the 8860 but if you have an auto you have to retain the factory computer for the auto control and splice into the wiring harness to hook the computer up for fuel and ignition control.

Re: plug and play ECU for EA to ED

gauges are seperate to the ECU, your gauges will run as per normal in the case of EA to ED except possibly the trip computer if you have the instantaneous fuel consumption readout one.

Re: plug and play ECU for EA to ED

Martin, I did reply to your private mesage but it looks like it didn't go thru. Essentially I have not tuned it much further than the initial tune. I consider it a 80% tune so far but unless I get at least 4 orders its not worth me doing a 100% tune as there a bit of time and money involved in doing it. Nevertheless as it is it gives more power and economy. The IAC and cold start works correctly now. If you know anything about getting a programmable EMS installed and tuned, for $300 its a bargain for the harness and tuning maps. Even if you have an auto its still easy to install but cutting of certain wires from the harness is required. For just a couple of orders its too much time to muck around with. As I am putting 550cc injectors in, I will be spending my time tuning for these injectors.
Regards
