I guess this is in similar vain to another thread about "G260" Fairlane. But I think it is more relevant to consider the understated and classy exterior of a Fairmont Ghia combining with Boss290 and the upcoming 6-speed auto to create what will surely be one of the world's great touring cars! I'm sure there are lot of potential buyers out there looking for a luxury touring car who find GT-P too extroverted. Surely FPV can find a spot in their line-up for such a car?

Umm.. Perhaps you ddin't read my post?? I opined that some people might be put off by the extroverted styling. I was wondering if there are others out there who prefer a wolf in sheep's clothing...

No. The Boss 290 should be for GT range only.
Thats what makes it a GT.

260 yes, 290 definately not. Its the engine of the GT range and should remain as such.

They never put the GTHO or GT goodies in a Fairmont.
Sides I dont think the 290 will fit under the bonnet without the bulge, bit like the XY-GT needing the shaker. So your gunna have to have the extrovert bonnet bulge at least.

And I bet 99% buyers will want some kind of rear spoiler (tho god knows why). so whats the point? theres only a bigger front/rear airdam, side skirt and different wheels left. (you can delete the stripes already)

I rekon if when you order your GT, if you ask FPV they will supppply some of the body kit in a carton rather then on the car (or forget to put em on - doh!) if you ask them nicely. but i think a fairmont ghia with a bonnet bulge would look...odd.

Maybe the XR6 turbo engine in a fairmont ghia would make a nice steed, I do like the idea of Q-ships.

Well, I think people wanting 290kW should be given a choice. IMHO, they should have pitched the GT/GT-P for people wanting hard-edged club-racer (suspension and looks-wise), and a Fairmont-skinned and slightly softer suspended car for those that prefer a gentleman's express.

Personally, I think the current GT/GT-P is too soft for the hardcore racers, and too loud for the sporting gentlemen. I believe it would be much better to cater for the two distinct markets separately, rather than be all things to all people.

My idea of FPV range would be:

GT: Entry-level 290kW, hardcore sports.
Standard "Full-sports tune" suspension (optional "touring" suspension ie. current GT setup)
Race style, light-weight bucket seats with matching rear seats.

GT-P: Premium 290kW, hardcore sports.
As for GT, with Fairmont interior.

[Insert Name Here]: Premium 290kW, luxury touring.
Fairmont exterior and interior
Standard "touring" suspension ie. current GT setup (optional sports)
Standard Leather/Suede Seats
Carbon-fibre trim

No I see no need for a 290 FG But I do think you should be able to spec it with boss 260 sports sus, and 18in wheels sort of a xr8 in FG that would be sweet
