The car is an EFI XF..power steering pump was leaking quite badly, so yesterday I changed it with a spare out of another EFI XF, connected it all up, bled the system etc, and power steering is now as dead as a door nail..

It's really got me bedazzled, and yes I have got the power steering belt connected. :)

Any ideas ?

old or incorrect fluid?? Are you sure the pump you put on was working well on the car it came off??? Check there is no kinked or damaged hoses??

Yeah the pumped worked fine, I made sure..all I did is disconnect the old hoses and connect the new ones...I'm using Dextron III for fluid..

It's pumping through the fluid ok aswell, except steering is dead. :(
Is it OK to drive to work and back tomorrow (20min drive) or will that kill the steering box? It's a really good steering box too..

must be an airlock in there somewhere surely? Cant see any other reason for the steering to be dead

Me and a few other mechanics at work tried to work out the airlocks today...but to no avail..

Appears that the pump is dead...how died from just changing it from my spare car to this one...i dunno. :(

I have 1 more spare one so I will try that before I go to work..
