this is what i am going to do to my xf 4.1 carby, auto. crow cam, 11:1 compression ratio, 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent exhaust into a 3 inch tip, hurricane extrctors, K&N air filter or better, thermo fans. what hp can i expect to get from all this? and what are some better air filters than K&N
11:1 is to high for a street car. 9.5 to 10:1 would be better with flat top pistons running premium.
Since you have an auto you cant put a big cam in them unless you have a high stall in which crow recommends is the lowest number of the cams power range.
My car now is 4 speed manual ,small cam, 2.5inch exhaust, pacemaker extractors and rejetted weber. It goes nice for my daily driver with around 140hp or around 80kw@wheels. Im stepping up to a 500 2 barrel holley now aiming for 200hp/150kw.
I recommend manual conversion, lower diff gears, get the hurricanes extractors, 2.25-2.5 exhaust, then get the weber dyno tuned and rejetted. It wont eat V8's until you do major head work and get a nice four barrel carb on aftermarket manifold (cain or redline).
From my experience 11:1 is way too high unless your running a HUGE camshaft. A good streetable XF motor could pull around 120-130kw at the wheels with 9-9.5:1 but it would take the right combination. Have you been to the fordsix.com forums? Some of the guys there have a lot of experience with the crossflow six.
XFs must be pretty good if they dont loose any power 15-20yrs later - slight exaggeration also intended
If the engine has been reguarly serviced at the suggested intervals, and no seals or nothing is worn, then yes they will get almost exactly the same power figures when they were new....

140 at the rears doesn't seem that much...especially for a heavy car.
What are they standard?
I'd hate to think what my stock lpg XF is making :( is it true that LPG is 20% down on power?
140 at the rears is quite a bit when you consider that the current ba 6cyl na is about 135rwkw. and it's about 1.7 tonne. the xf would have been about 1.3-4 tonne. quite a difference.
