Hey guys,

i was just wondering if any of you guys have used the Powerchip on an EF XR8.

If heard that chip torque and uni chip are good too, and would like to know if anybody has used any of them, and how much are they fitted. Also, if i put one in my car, then do head work later, can the chip be reprogrammed or do i need a new chip ???

With Chiptorque your modd's will have to reburnt into another module

Chiptorque are around $1000 for chip and dyno tune, Unichip are about $300 dearer. I think they are both pretty much the same.

Hey ive got a powerchip in my ef 6cyl and its not bad. But if your willing to spend more money and get the full benefit go for the Unichip. I heard you can reprogram as many times as you want when you get some mods done. Obviously Unichip is going to be dearer but its worth it. :) Ill be getting a unichip for an AU VCT. Ill probably be getting rid off the powerchip in my ef because ill be doing some serious mods in the future and the Powerchip doesnt like to be altered. Unichip is very good for Detuned cars. Like some Ford V8s and some 6s like the VCT. I hope my advice helped you! :)

Go the unichip the whole way, had a mate with a 96 EF XR6 with powerchip, we put it on the dyno and guess what no power increase but the thing was running that rich it wasn't funny. Now another mate of mine has fitted a unichip to his ED XR6 and with exhaust, cold air, cam and the chip he's getting 150 rw kw's.
it alright to say it works in theory, but unless it works in practice it doesn't work does it?????

Thanks for that guys........seems like unichip is the way to go..........although after some hard thinking (after i wrote this post) i've decided to sell my baby..........!
