I have purchased a Powerchip gold for my XR8 6 months ago and i feel more than dissatisfied with the performance and economy.
My XR has also a SVO exhaust system from webby and air flter which should produce in total about 240-250kws.
As from time to time i'll get a VX,VY SS 225kws along side my XR i feel that performance is approximately the same , as they both go very hard (xr overall).
Has anyone purchased this chip that may have any feedback or data to acknowledge that these chips are what they say.
Is there any way apart from a dyno can we test the performance of the chip.

Not really maybe by driving the car for awhile with the chip removed & then re inserting it.
Off the shelf chips actually do Jack didly squat. maybe at most help you use afew more litres of the good stuff compared to std.
I have a chiptorque module in my ED. This would be the 4th chip I have used. The car ran ok dont get me wrong but there was afew niggling probs i had to get sorted out. 6 mths later a rep from chiptorque came over to WA & tuned my car on a dyno & on the road. Im more than pleased at the end result considering the original chip was $600 odd & each c/o chip was $290......
Try to get them (powerchip) to do it in real time or just sell it & go for something else

I have been hearing similair stories from a few different sources lately. To be honest I considered one for my 5.0L, but it's a "Generic" off-the-shelf chip that could be used in either my ford, or the kid down the street's 180SX Nissan.

I'm getting a UniChip fitted in the next week or two and believe, despite the extra cost, it will give me what I'm looking for, in conjunction with exhaust and airbox changes.

Alternatively, there's always the "old fashioned" route.......cam, overbore, manifolds, throttlebody, etc.
