ben

the scenario i gave you didn't include costs. Assume both cars (12 sec and 15 sec) were offered to you for free as long as you kept them and didn't sell them, both were bulletproof and running costs were the same. Which would you choose???

p.s i realise this is a scenario that will never happen, i just made it up to get your opinion.

Re: ben

Well here's the simple answer 2 the question "why do people modify cars" (not quoting directly), it's FUN.

Just for example, it's like saying, "why go bowling, or why play pool, in the end it doesn't benefit you in any way".

Life's meant 2 b fun, and if someone's particularly interested in modifying their ride, then that's just simply THEIR HOBBY.

Re: ben

speak for yourself buddy

anyway, luke.....have you driven an XR6 or XR8 ED+ 5sp ?

you must have some pretty damn serious mods to an EA to beat one of those.

Re: ben

As rymers said, it's all for fun. You live only once, so if it feels good, do it. We all have different needs and wants, and if you want something that'll get you to work 5 mins quicker or will put some Holdens to shame, the go for it, it's not gonna harm me.

My intention is to modify the LTD so it is the ultimate highway cruiser, it's already like that standard, but it can be better. I don't need more power, it's got enough, and fuel economy doesn't need to be worsened. I like my lights, my bars, my fridges, my little cow mods (it cheers me up and personalises my car, I mean who else has a cowprint rocker cover... OOPS I've said too much ) and not to mention the comfort factor, all important aspects of an excellent highway cruiser.

The bottom line is, if it doesn't harm me, then I don't care what people do to their cars. It makes them unique, gives me something different to look at and makes us all happy.

Alex

Re: ben

Ben, when new (I know I've said this a million times) the manual EA S did 0-100 in 7.8. This compares reasonably to the best figure of 7.2 for an EB II XR6. It wouldn't require too much work to make the EA beat the XR6.

The Goodz, apparently I'm not the only one looking for sportiness. Personally, my goal is to make my car accumilate the best bits of all EA-ED models (based on my opinion of course). My favourite wheels are the Sprint ones, and then there is the GT steering wheel, etc. It will take a while to do it for financial reasons, and that's before I think about the really expensive stuff like a V8/4 speed conversion. Assuming all goes ahead as planned, it will still take years at this rate... but the end result will be very nice.
