Premium ULP in BA XR8

Hi all,

I have recently brought a BA XR8 and was wondering if any of you are running PULP and what the results are??

Is there any issues with this fuel and the Ford warranty??

Cheers

shouldnt you be running that type of fuel anyway, i thought a car with any sort of performance would have to be running PULP...

There is no way warranty will be affected unless you run avgas or similar! Yep stick to PULP all the time, I find BP Ultimate to be the best.

In ford manual is says to use ULP, which I have found in recent years to be crap.

I use PULP in my GU Patrol and can notice the power difference but that is 2.5t of vehicle.

Is there a notable power difference in the XR??

Mines been run on Optimax since new, so I can't compare with plain old ULP. On the odd occasion of filled up with the Mobil PULP Synergy something or other it seems to run a bit smoother, but that could be just psycological. Local Mobil closed up not long after I got it so I have to be out & about to get Mobil.

I been running optimax and if you compare fuel econmy between optimax and std unleaded you will find you will get better fuel econmy with optimax
about 8-10% better, which is about how much std unleaded is cheaper than optimax. Also your mad if you dont!
happy driving.

Re: Premium ULP in BA XR8

Thats what i thought, Iv only used unleaded, in both my cars as when i read through the manual it says not to use optimax or anything like that and because of that iv never used it.
So if i decided to use it, There would be no effect to my warrenty even though it says in the manual not to
Cheers

I use to run optimax, didnt find it to run that smoothe, so put bp ultimate, which is the best out of them all, now running caltex vortex which is pretty good and you can use the woolies dockets. Im going to start using BP Ultimate again tho.

Re: Premium ULP in BA XR8

Hi Mr GT - In Sydney the BP and Shell fuel all comes out of the same Shell refinery at Clyde so any differences would be entirely down to the fuel station itself :-)

In Melbourne however BP and Shell are separate.
