Pretty interesting..

heya guys,

well, fathers day today, and i went to the relatives house..

I always knew my uncle had an ED Fairmont that he bought new in July 1994, but i had never had a good look at it.

Well, today i was showing everyone my car () and i went and had a squiz at my uncles..

He hadn't told me anything about this ED, but when he opened the bonet, i knew something was dreadfully wrong..

It was immaculate! Looked like a brand new engine bay! Everything was amazingly clean, there was still a sticker on the back of the block that connected to the transmission that had build dates on it.. The exhaust and cat converter were still silver (not rusted) the head was still immaculately clean (no oil)..

Then, i looked at the amount of kays on it.....

23,000kms on a 1994 ED Fairmont! This car was so clean! It still had original ford coolant!

He got a company car, and had bought the fairmont as a weekender. He drives it once every 2 weeks. The battery has gone flat 3 times because of how long it sits..

He also has an XF which only has 123,000km's!

Anyway, the point of this thread,

whats the lowest mileage e series you've seen?

Re: Pretty interesting..

I saw an XE ESP once with 37,000 kms on it.

Unfortunately, it was later written off in a pretty bad stack...

Cheers,
Dave

Re: Pretty interesting..

So is it safe to say that my uncle owns the lowest mileage ED Fairmont in Australia?

Re: Pretty interesting..

Would there be any problems with a car that's 10 years old, and has only done 23k? Isn't it bad for engines to sit there and not be driven?

Things i thought of would be, engine oil drying up from sitting there, then being started for the first time in 4 weeks, which would cause stress on the components...

He has changed the oil twice a year every year for the last 10 years...

Realistically, could he still get $15,000 for it?

Oh, and it's always been garaged.. The panels are immaculate.
