Just wondered what everyone's previous ride was. I have a 78 Fairmont GXL (hence the nick) 302 with a T5 gearbox - colour is desert gold & motor is fairly stock apart from extractors (to be rid of pollution controls). When my BA XR8 finally arrives, the XC will go off the road to get a bit of cancer cut out and a few other goodies before going back on the road. I've had this car for 20 years now, so couldn't part with it (besides, I would have got nothing for it if I traded it in).
Does anyone else keep their old beasts, or are they just traded away?

I had an XC GS Fairmont 351 which was in excellent condition. I had this before I got my current car (see sig below). The ol beast was excellent off the lights. Used to pull sideways with the ammount of torque it had. It only had a towing cam but I had pacemaker tuned extractors on it which made a bit of difference.
this was my first ford! car before that was a 91 Galant VR4 turbo - which i modified to about 200kw - was quite fun to drive!

no i sold the galant to buy the BA - would have liked to keep it though!
i originally had an Escort Ghia some time ago - i was going to do it up and register it. however one day i came home and discovered that my brother had swapped the escort for a wheelie bin!!!!! man was i pissed - he apologised and said he really needed the bin.......needless to say i didnt accept the apology.

What the??? I would have throttled the guy if it was my car! I can understand why you still havent accepted his applogies! keh just goes to show how well looked after you are by 'family'.
my first car was a 73 build HQ (plate said 73 but was first registered in 72...figure that out!!) was an old cop car. had some balls and had some (i use some loosely) rust (you could put your hand in the holes). got given a (yellow) 75 mazda 929 by my dad when he got another car (which was bought new buy family members and never left the family..hand me downs lol). still got the mazda even though i bought a 2000 falcon 2 years ago....comes in handy sometimes. wouldnt get anything for it if i sold it anyway.
I still have my 1st ever car and I dont plan on getting rid of her,it's my XW that I've owned since I was 14 and I'm still playing with her,my other car's will come and go but this old girl will stay stay.

Datto 120y, the only good thing about it was handbrake turns. It made way for my falcon which just recently was taken out by a commy that was going through a red light. Now looking for something in the xw to xc range with a 351 clevo. Getting sick of peddling to work.
