price rise

A mate of mine went and ordered his turbo the other day! specced it up a little,payed his deposit-SIGNED THE CONTRACT-then 2 days later the dealer rings him and tells him that ford has upped the price by 500.00 bucks!!!!!!!!
What gives???????he has paid his deposit -and signed up!!!
Has this happened to any one else?
should he have to pay the extra?
I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, that happened to me and i tolled them to go and get f***ed...Literally! (I didn't pay it at the end).

My best mate's sister is a lawyer and she said that what they are doing is illegal so tell your mate not to pay it.

Which dealer is it?

Think you find that a new car contact has the provisions for price rises to be passed on. If you sign that contract, then you are bound by it. How is it illegal??

Price rises pass ons have been going on for years.

Wonder how many people would say 'get f&^$ed' if the price dropped, and the dealler wanted to reduce the contracted price. Cant have it both ways ;-)

I haven't heard on any rises. It's the dealer probably wanting another $500 profit.

i dont want to say what dealer cause ive ordered my car there to-but maybee cause im six foot four,145 kg and a melon like a dropped pie ,they thought not to tell me about it

My account manager arranging my novated lease has advised that the Ford price price will not take place until July 1.

I would be asking why they are raising the price now.....

The price rise thing has been covered many times before. In a nutshell, it's the manufacturer changing the price, not the dealer. And the price from the manufacturer is the price set when the car is shipped to the dealer - not when the order is placed.

Read the contract, it does mention price fluctuations.

The price rise is definately coming. I have even factored in a 1.5% increase on the base price of the XR8 I've ordered. The XR6T had a 1.5% increase in February this year, and that was the biggest increase of all of them (The XT 5.4 had the lowest increase of 0.25%, while the XR8 skipped the increases having only just been released.)

JUNE 1st Price Rise

I'm in the same boat. I've ordered over two weeks ago but don't even have a SIDO yet.

Some dealers have mentioned the price rise and that it's expected to be 1.5%. Ford has not publicly announced it yet but all dealers agree that it applies - 1st JUNE

I repeat JUNE 1

Here's the way the contract works in VICTORIA:

1. The dealer must first inform the purchaser of the actual price increase. The price increase is the difference between the NEW recommended-retail-price and the OLD recommended-retail-price, PLUS any additional duty chargable as a result of the increase. Unless otherwise stated the increase ONLY applies to the base price of the car without options.

2. The purchaser must respond in writing within 3 days that they want to cancel the contract.

3. The dealer then has 3 days in which to inform the Purchaser that they can have it for the original price on the contract.
-If they do, then the sale goes ahead at the old price.
-If they don't, then it's all over.

The important things to note:

The increase applies to a RECOMMENDED retail price. There is no obligation for a dealer to charge this full price and thus they have the ability to waive the increase but they reduce their margin.

All dealers are a aware of the increase and if you've recently ordered a car they know full well that you will cop it.

If the dealer has given you a sweet discount on the car the 1.5% increase is not calculated on the discounted price but on the FULL normal recommended-retail price.
