It seems discussion on Cobra #209 crept into a Phase4 thread on the Biante forum at some point and the validity of such a car has been going back and forth over there.
On page 10 of the thread, HERE it seems someone has enquired and got a response from the Ford Archives on Cobra #209 and they say the car was not painted differently... but that still doesn't mean the archive is definately 100% right either, just goes to further deepen the mystery.

Finally got a reply from Ford archives re Cobra #209.......and guess what? It was painted Snowhite with Bold Blue stripes. Just like all the others!
Quote:
And I've just had a horrible thought. What if the paint scheme was changed at the last minute, but Ford's records still showed the car as White with Blue strips. Would this be possible?
Quote:
Well I suppose it is possible.......the guy said that the paint code EZ605 is Snowhite with Bold Blue stripes, just as Z605, which surprised me. But that's what the man told me!
This is really starting to get interesting. Could turn into another car like the fabled psuedo Phase 4 coupe built for Bib Stillwell...

From memory, the XD John Goss special was the Phase V body kit which was produced by Phase Autos, you might want too shoot an email to Wayne Draper who was involved in the XD race car project/body kit at the time -
[quote=xcgxl] Someone said that the black XY GTHO at AFD in Sydney last year was the only black HO phase 3 produced. [quote]
that car (if we are talking about the same one), belonged to my mates uncle, he committed suicide when his wife was unfaithful and she later sold it to a fella for $40,000 advertising it simply as a 'black GT'. I forget the guys name, I can find out, but he used to race an XC hardtop in the sports sedan series. Someone also told me that the fella had an american nascar cleveland engine fitted into it, but dunno if thats true. Ive gopt an old photo of it if anyone is interested.
I could post the picture on this page but Ive had a bit of difficulty uploading the image (only 200kb)

That's really sad. I stood and admired that car for about 20mins. I think the owner thought I was a nutter. It passed me on the road on the way home too, looked real sweet. Its got reflective orange stripes is that how you remember it?
