Rev Limiter

since im over the motor ive got in the eb right now, i decided last night to go out an see what sort of a flogging it would take ( hoping it would blow uf so the nice au motor could go in .....
full lock right and gassed it, engine was bouncing of limiter for about 2 1/2 minutes continul....... These are sooo tuff, was so expecting it to shit its self...
Are all the ford ecu's from eb-el rev limited at 5750..........
People freak out when you show em a vidieo of a ford six bouncing of limiter

Re: Rev Limiter

mine will, and regularly does rev past 6000 (needle will max out on the guage). The funny thing is that when I got my engine chipped chiptorque told me they would set the rev limiter to an appropriate level for the cam. Ill have to hook up a 10k tacho to figure out what that is.

Before it was chipped and it was an auto it would never go past 5500 no matter what I did.

But im def not goining to get one of them ecu's as i will try to find the mechanical rev limiter (valve bounce or rod comming out)..... hmmm mabie it could be a way to get my au motor quicker

Re: Rev Limiter

Mine has a limiter at 5600, too. But if the clutch is in or the car's in neutral, then there's no limiter.

90 EA MPI 5spd.

Cheers,
Dave

Re: Rev Limiter

ahhhhh
that makes me think..,.. a while back i noticed when my clutch is in the outermost position it misses the clutch switch by like 2mm maybe this is y i have no limiter when the clutch is fully disengaged.
