Sat Nav - GPS Problems

Hi All,

Has anyone had a sat nav/gps go dead after getting a Version 10 upgraded DVD from Sensis. When I got my BA late in 2002, I was told to register with sensis.com.au for upgrade notifications.

Well 2 weeks ago they sent me a letter indicating a discounted upgrade to V10. The DVD I got with the car was V2.

Paid $345 for it, got it in the mail and the cover letter said Denso DVD, also suits Jaguar, Lexus, Toyota. I started the GPS and it was working fine on the old DVD, put the new one in and nothing, remote would not work. Replaced and put the old one back in now its dead.

What do I do? Is it dead for good, or is there a special boot up DVD?

i don't know why it'd die from just putting a cd into it
try taking it back to where you got it from they might know whats going on

Re: Sat Nav - GPS Problems

Babluf,

My story is almost identical to yours....bought GT-P last October with Sat/Nav with V2 DVD and recently (about 3 weeks ago) received and inserted the new V10 DVD in lieu of the old one, but without any problems either with the remote or the display. I also removed the new one and re-installed the old (temporarily to check on something) before re-installing the V10 DVD, again without incident.

Perhaps the unit has failed and it's just a coincidence that it happened at the same time, or maybe you just have a faulty DVD. (Mine is also a Denso V10)

Sorry I can't be of more assistance, but mine's OK.

Good luck with it.

Carramar

Re: Sat Nav - GPS Problems

Mine did exactly the same thing about 3 weeks ago,put the new version 10 in and nothing happened would not turn on so i put the old one back in ,the same just could not to get it turned on.So i then went to New Oak Ford they had a look at it but could not find the problem,so they ordered a new screen which seemed funny to me as i would have thought the problem would have been in the unit itself where the disc gets inserted, anyway after waiting for nearly 3 weeks and still havent heard from New Oak i then went to Strapp Ford in Burwood they had a look at it fiddled around and got it working again but they also dont quite know what the problem could have been.
Cheers John

Re: Sat Nav - GPS Problems

I took the car back to a dealer who replaced the hardware and installed the V2 dvd. At the dealer I told them I had the v10 in the glove box. Inserted the V10 and the unit died again blank screen. The dealer then placed the v10 in one of the demo cars and same thing - died - blank screen.

No doubt dealer called Sensis and apparently it is a firmware problem but Sensis asked me to return the disc and sent me a new one. Now I am stuck as dealer deos not want to fix under warranty and said it is Sensis's problem, the people who supplied the disk.
