I am seriously looking at a new BA and need some non bullshit info on the SatNav.
Does it cover ALL of Australia or just the cities. I checked out the one available when I bought my AUII and decided not to go ahead as it only covered Syd/Bris/Mel etc.
I have not been able to actually find one fitted to a Barra yet as all the dealers have onle XTs in stock and everything else is backordered.
$3600 is a lot of bucks if it only half works.
There must be at least one person out there who has bought one.

Let him that hath understanding count the number of the BEAST:
for it is the number of a F6 Typhoon; and its number is 0217.
We have one in our BA V8 Fairmont Ghia. Im not sure if it covers all the cities but i know it does more than the capital ones. I live in Townsville and it does everything around here, also we took it to the Gold Coast when we went away and it did all the cities inbetween and i set it for some streets in rockhampton, and it did them no worries.
It comes on a DVD and the DVD drive is niceley hidden in the boot. Operation is all done by a remote control, need touch screen :)
Only problem i've had with it, is the voice navigation feature is hard to hear at max. volume when u have the readio on, and the guy at ford reckons the otherday it needs an inline amplify but Ford haven't made them yet?
If you have anymore questions, ill try and answer them for you.
It works in all capital cities .... and will get better with each update DVD (future editions can be bought with more towns mapped) ....
Most value from it would be in Sydney/Melbourne or probably Brisbane .... but I've used it in Adelaide/Perth and Darwin and its fine. They are all mapped.
In Sydney and Melbourne, you could set it and get real value from it getting from say Cronulla to somewhere like Penrith. But in Adelaide to get from anywhere to anywhere is a piece of cake anyway so I dunno if it is worth the $$$ unless you love the technology and $3600 is not going to concern you anyway.
Its only some rural towns that you have no significant mapping on the DVD eg. Alice Springs - but I dont think that's a huge issue.
I don't have a problem with the audible levels but yes, there is a simple upgrade procedure for the sound at Ford Dealers.
Well you can forget about Sat Nav if you live in New Zealand... Guess the place isn't big enough to get lost, you're going to hit water sooner or later.
Thanks guys, I am going to the motor show in Bris on Wednesday and I will sus one there..

Damn I wish SatNav was available on the utes. I was really hoping to get it. Makes you wonder - utes are often commercial vehicles and given my need to get around some odd places I thought it would be a highly useful feature.
Considering fitting aftermarket stuff - however I want to see an install first.
