Sept VFacts Ford outsells Holden !!!

Ford Falcon 7409. Holden 7361.
Ute : Ford 1943. Holden 1525.
The Ford Falcon has ended the Holden Commodores six year run as Australia's top selling car.
It is the Falcons best monthly figures since March 1996 and it is the first time it has eclipsed the Commodore since Sept 1997.
Geoff Polites said" the sales result was validation of the hard work to deliver a car the market wanted"
Holden media relations manager Jason Laird said "Fords gains had not been at Commodores expense. We had a strong month with Commodore. The segment itself is far stronger than it was last year "
The West Australian .Saturday Oct 4th.
Good one Ford !! Party Time !!

Re: Sept VFacts Ford outsells Holden !!!

Woah - hold up.

I work for a very large Australian company. The lease prices for a XT falcon on gas is around the $10k mark per year. Holden exec isn't on offer - the nearest comparison is the Aclaim at around $15k.

There are several way to get market share. Selling your undies is one of them.

No doubt the Falcon is doing well, but seeing as the corporate market is a large slab of the falcon/commodore market, it's not something that's clear cut.

Fleet sales are where Commodore previously did well, after Ford burned a few bridges when the heavily discounted EL Falcon.

That Falcon has regained fleet confidence is a sign of the good thing that BA is.

Re: Sept VFacts Ford outsells Holden !!!

I think I may work for the same large Australian company and I spoke to our fleet people at length about the Falcon pricing and it came down to the LPG and greenhouse gas issues as to why thet went this way.
The history behind the dumping of Ford in the fleet market rests solely on two releases, EA and AU, The EA lost due to it was a woefully assembled car, the last new one I had I left in a steaming heap somewher out near Miles, then stepped into a VL and never looked back until VT's gave some reliability grief, but they were still safe while the AU looked such a dog.
Then steps in the BA, we had pictures sent around July 02 and the pricing put the XR6 so perfect, they have gone up more than $4k pa since then but too good to pass up. The bottom line is if Ford can make it a good deal, yes I will always go that way, but the price increases have me looking at an LPG futura wagon.

Re: Sept VFacts Ford outsells Holden !!!

The fact that there are a substantial number of VTs still on the road with corporate colours suggests the numbers - just like the XD did in the 80s - probably are a large part of the equation. The funny thing is - how many XD/XEs do you see on the road now compared to VB/VC/VHs from the same period. SO many more commodores!

hm - perhaps all the Falcon's did their kays in the first 3 years.

(devils advocate post) hehe...

Cheers,
.
