Re: smart mods for 87 xf

Sounds like your gettin it sorted.. I gonna do pretty much the same thing to a ute.. gonna put 200 rods in, with acl race pistons (special ones).. I goin a 4bbl holley tho.. with a pretty lumpy cam.. and headwork will be similar, but new gear throughout.. inc lifters.. lol.. and gotta cc the heads to get comp to a reasonable level.. to use pump gas..

5 speed also.. to get the econ for drivin to work.. LOL.. Economy.. hahaha..

LSD is high priority.. 'bout 3.6:1 ratio.

Otherwise i wanna get her looking sweet.. prolly white, with black bonnet and tailgate.

Been studyin up for about 3 months now, get the dosh to start in March.. Will post on here will full details, engine rebuild n all

Re: smart mods for 87 xf

Sorry.. reason for post... Temps.

IMO the temp settings are an issue with efi, cant be too low. For carb, i think the cooler the better. All fords are run hot.

Willing to cop flack over this statement.. LOL

oh yer the cooler the better that is true but with a cooler thermostat what im worried about is that the radiator may not cool it quick enough heat isues always scare me. i spent to much on motor to run the risk of over heating lol.

Re: smart mods for 87 xf

if the lifters are pissing you off pull the cam and relace with a solid set up.then at least all you have to do is keep your nice new roller rockers(which you will need)adjusted and no more ticks.and adjustment is just a case of rippin r/cover off -too easy.
