G'day guys i just bought an xa falcon 500, its in pretty good nick except that when the steering lock comes on it is very hard to turn the key to turn it back off and get the car to start. it has a newly cut key and an old key so it has to be something in the barrell or steering that is the problem. any ideas

It could be that, if you turn the ignition off with the wheels turned, the lock mech is in a bind.....Try turning the wheel one way or the other (slightly)
while you are trying to start it. Just a suggestion.

The best test would be to pull the lock out and see if it turns freely in your hand. Then you will know if it is in the cloumn or in lock.

Update guys, i tired some graphite powder down the barrel Its magic stuff worked a treat. Its as good as new now (almost) lol. cheers for all the advice tho.

No harm, no foul, but graphite isn't the lube of choice anymore for locks, but you will be fine.
