per previous posts, my superbird coupe is nearly back from the spraypainters. its taken a few months due to there only being two guys in the workshop, and insurance work taking priority. two weeks to go and its looking sensational. will post new pics.

im now thinking about the motor. its only got 67,000 miles on it, and is stock as a rock with the factory toploader 4speed (its a slug with the 2 barrel factory carb). a mechanic mate of mine has suggested stroking it to 351, adding a four barrell and mild cam, but keeping the appearance of the engine bay dead stock. what do you guys think in terms of an effect on originality? i know its not a GT, but superbirds are quite rare. my long term plan is to keep the car and drive it infrequently.

also what are some of you XB goss owners doing with your 302c's?

If you put 351 crank in it, you still have the original block so go for it!
Replace the manifold and keep the original.

There's probably a few GT's going around that are probably stroked anyway.

build a new one, at 351 your foot will become alot heavier, perhaps sh!tting the original, don't risk it!!1

Yellow Fire

The original engine from mine is sitting on an engine stand. I looked at rebuilding the 302 & making it a 351, but after getting a few quotes it just wasn't worth the effort; so I just bought a 351 that was ready to go. It helps the price if you have another block to use as exchange as well.

Can't wait to see how the Superbird turns out.
