Just wondering where i could find info on SVO's. My mate is looking at purchasing one for $8000, is this a good price? How can we check if its an original? What should he look for?
There should be plates and whatnot throughout the car, and not just one single ID plate. I looked into a slightly modified EA SVO (red on black, manual, MPFI) for about $6000 (in a dealership), but the condition was pretty crap bodywise, so $8K may be ok for a very well looked after car. There are markings (stickers or plates can't remember) on some suspension components that will help identify it, as most people who build a replica wouldn't go to such detail. I'm sorry i can't tell you exactly where to look but it's been ages since i researched these cars, but i hope at least it's a start for you.
I can tell you a few details of them just off the top of my head incase you don't ring Mick Webb:
Standard they have - momo (or similar ) steering wheel and seats, dark grey 16x8 svo wheels, lip spoiler, two-tone paintjob (although i have seen single color examples, maybe reprayed tho), mild bodykit, MPFI motor and manual transmissions (none are auto AFAIK). They come with SVO extractors and "free-er flowing" exhaust. They have lower and much stiffer suspension also.
The car i looked at had electric thermos, and a pod style filter that looked almost factory, but i'm pretty sure these were done by the previous owner.
mate Ill show you how to tell if it is a genuine article PM for details ,
oneredED they dont have Id tags ,only about 20 stickers placed on components ,mine has origanal tyre placards saying "this svo vehicle is shod with Bridgestone etc.etc ,
8k it would want to be as nice if not better as mine was four years ago when I payed that much!!!!!
TOP CAR they are better than an EDXR6 IMO (I own both)
One detail, there were auto versions. I have a comparison of one against the VN V6 HSV and they went well with their 3.23 diffs. If you like I can upload it again.

Ok guys, sorry about that. I was going by information given to me by someone-else who had one. I was told that sway-bars and such had labels indicating that they were fitted by SVO. I have never seen an auto version ever, so i just assumed. Guess i assumed wrong
And Pazza, sorry, i didn't mean to mislead ya, just thought i'd give you some info (as inaccurate as it was) as no-one had yet, just to give ya a start. I'll keep my mouth shut in future haha
