Went for a drive in a T3 TS 50 the other day and what a car, this thing feels really special.I use to own a VN SS Group A and that car had alot of special parts on it including the manifold (twin throttle bodies) 6 speed gearbox 4 bolt mains, ford lifter bores, big brakes, special suspension, special bodykit. Surely the T3 will be remembered as Fords version of the Group A as it has alot of model specific parts.
Some facts in ford favor, Fords highest output 5L 220kw, Holden 215kw,
Fords highest output stroker T3 250kw, Holdens 215kw VS days, Fords highest output 6 240kw, Holden 180kw

IT seems you are on the defensive HOBBES. how can you say the Group A was not an offical car thats crap if so fine holdens best is 200kw and fords was 220kw even better. Was only comparing T3 with Group A on the fact that they were both special cars.On another note VT GTS 220kw and T3 250 kw not that many years apart and is only a comparision of the best of the old school engines that we knew so well. You didnt have much to say about the busted arse V6 as we are comparing apples with apples here and there is no comparision at all,the 240t even beats the almighty vy ss, maybe you should do some holden bashing on street commodores site, you might make some friends there

Yeah guys lets keep this thread to an intelligent discussion.
There is no denial that in the early 90's if one was after a hot V8 then it was Holden that filled that market.
Specification wise the VN Group A had the twin throttle bodies that really made the engine breath and was rated at 200kw. From reading the specs i can't say it was bad car and combined with an under 1400kg weight it was quite lively.
The most powerful of the Stroked 304 range was in the GTS-R Commodore with the blueprint option rated at 230kw.
The T3 5.6L Engine is destined to be a classic with it's brutal low down and mid range torque and that engine note it's gotta be one of the best sounding V8's around.
I think when comparing apples with apples the 195kw (XX3 Option) VT1 SS Commodore vs the AU1 XR8. I remember the XR8 being quicker despite the 10kw give away, not to mention the handling aspect.
