Very sad but I had to do it couldnt have two bosses in the same house,any way I will buy another one the day FORD puts a supercharger in them like the 2006 cobra mustang but I guess the IRS wont handle it.

No Ford are to mean to do anything really cool in Australia and New Zealand.Pursuit is just a over priced xr8 with different compression,FPV is a bit of a rip off I Feel,I mean its a lot of extra money for what?Just like Holden and HSV I think its so idiots in the corporate sector who know nothing about cars feel(and have extra 20,000k) think they have bettter cars than everyone else.Because anyone can see they are basicly the same cars?????

You know mate, you're one of the only people who thinks the same way about FPV cars as me. For the extra $20,000 it would have cost me to have a GT over my XR8, I could supercharge it, exhaust, tune, leather, the list goes on. Don't get me wrong, the GTs are nice, but for the money?? Nah....
Like you say, for the sake of high compression pistons...............
Don't want to stirr too much shit, but does FPV really have the right to call their car a GT?? Beautifull car, but in comparison to the Phase III, doesn't really have much.
Mind you, I'm only jealous.

A little saying a bloke once said to me:

American ford has right idea with svt, supercharge these puppys and and you will have a car worth going on about,lets face it 2006 cobra mustang 5.4 wipple S/C stock with warranty 12.5 sec out of the box and they cost 40k US not to mention 19"wheels,6speed box,Massive 4 pot brakes(made in Australia?)Bilstiein suspension and countless other extras and close to 600hp bone stock(WHAT A CAR).Now why doesnt some fool at ford design a ba/bf cobra falcon with that engine etc holden has a great motor with that corvett ls2 its fast like it or not it will blow our cars to the weeds someone give us the cobra falcon its been long enough.

30Kw and a starter button for $20 grand. They can build a Monaro here and sell it in The States for US$35,000. That's AUD$47,000 after they ship it there! I think they are AT LEAST $60K here..Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

GOLDEN BOY you hit the nail on the head! The truth being is that the extra 30 claimed kilowatts extra is produced just before the engine is about to drop a leg out of bed/ Redline. Same with torque. The advertising gurus need to take all the credit here, Do a great job in decieving the Australian public in droves.

Bolting on a supercharger is a cheap and unreliable way of covering our deficiency. PLEASE FORD AMERICA! I beg of you give us some mighty nascar engine like the clevo of old. The GTHO can only be atmo fed, The day they chuck on a supercharger is the day I join a manafacturer that sticks to its roots.

Interesting thread. I've owned a BA XR8 and loved it. Now I own an Mk2 GT and the difference between to two is huge. On paper it may not sound that much maybe but let’s have a look at it anyway.

The GT has a stronger, more powerful engine –higher compression, different pistons and cams etc (value over XR8- maybe 3k),
18" wheels standard (value over XR8- maybe 1.5k),
Premium sound and climate control and much nicer interior (I have leather)(value over XR8- maybe 3-4k)
Bigger brakes (value over XR8- maybe 2k),
Stiffer suspension (value over XR8- maybe .5k),
Better looking and integrated body kit (value over XR8- maybe 2k),
plus a handful of minor enhancements like stripes, colour coded engine covers, gauge pods and stuff like that (value over XR8- maybe 2k), ...

None of this is taking into account that the GT is in fact a GT, something the XR8 can never be. So if we have a look at this conservative estimate the GT has approximately between $14-15k worth of value over an XR8. The XR8 retails for $51k while the GT $61k. Some may not value the difference of the two cars but I think this highlights that the GT is hardly a rip off.

To be honest coming from a bloke that has owned both, if you think theirs bugger all difference in the two then I would assume you have not owned or spent reasonable amount of time in both. They are poles apart IMO and you can definitely feel that extra 30kW's over the XR.
