UPDATE on Head Rebuild
Yo guys,
Well, dad ended up getting the head rebuilt, not just re-conditioned.
I've posted a couple of pictures of my powdercoated rocker cover that came back today..
Not exactly sure of the head work yet, will know when the head gets back..
Cheers guys,
Yagz

Re: UPDATE on Head Rebuild
The cover was sandblasted to get rid of any imperfections, and then coated with that bright red..
Sandblast and powder coat was $40.. That might be mates rates though..
Cheers,
Yagz

Re: UPDATE on Head Rebuild
how should i drive the car when i get it back with the head rebuilt? any specific way?
apparently you have to run water through it for the first little while, cos if you put coolant in it, it stuffs up?
cheers,
yagz

Re: UPDATE on Head Rebuild
i run water initially after doing the head cos I know im going to be draining it shortly after anyway (get rid of all the crap that still might be in there). Water is free, coolant is not.

Re: UPDATE on Head Rebuild
coolant interfears with the sealant on the headgasket which is why you run water initially. well thats what i was taught at tafe anyway. friend just had his head done and was told the same thing.
