Got the car transferred into my name recently + paid next years rego. I had a healthcare card (not working, uni student, don't wanna pay any more for rego than I have too), so I paid the $162.80 which I assumed I was meant to pay (I assumed the healthcare card gave a full concession). Anyway, I get two letters back from Vicroads, one saying I'm completely paid up, the other saying I owe them $319 in outstanding fees (eg. I need to pay a FULL rego.. ~$550).
So I go to Vicroads, talk to the information lady, and before sending me to one of the girls who handle all the stuff they do at the centers, she does some calculations, and assumes that I owe $162.80 again, as I have a Healthcare card, and that entitles me to a partial concession, so I owe $325.60 all up. Then she directs me to one of the girls there, and she comes up with some random figures.. First, I owe $162.80, then I owe $202, then I owe $117, then finally she comes to the conclusion that I only ever owed $117, and I need a refund. Hoooray!
So, through VicRoads cluelessness, instead of paying $162.80 (which I'd almost say is what I should be doing), I'm receiving a refund in the mail of $45, at some point! If you ever get a letter from Vicroads complaining about anything, just go in there.. you're very likely to come out on top

I cant make out exactly what you are saying except that you scored $45. Good ony ya, nice to see some1 screwover Vicroads for once!
I thought Vic roads only excepted the full payment at a time?
How much is rego with a health care card? about 350?
How much did you pay?
^^^ Ditto! I pay so much bloody money for practically nothing, what the hell do I get in return? I might as well leave plates on there, and let my rego run out. I may get out of paying a fee, and if I get caught it's only like $500, so it's the same either way. That's what a mate did, he's saved thousands!
... which reminds me, I gotta get my health-care card renewed so I can screw these suckers again!! I guess it's not screwing them if I'm eligible anyhow... Ahh well...

$700 in qld for 12 months rego, no concessions for anyone. Transport dept would laugh at you if you showed them a health care card. You get nothing for nothing these days.
I've just been processing all of the regos for our company vehicles and it looks like rego is up to $523, so a jump of almost $100 over last year. It's still cheaper than most other states but who cares! If we didn't have the TAC Premium (which has it's good and bad points) we'd only be paying $162.
Bugger...
