Try a Ford Focus there on special you would two for 40k.
your dad well have a car the new guy well get one you can have the BA.
LOL Just Kidding. :)
Get a XR6T or XR8 Ute..
Well I just want the best car I can get for my money. Having (almost) decided against a 2nd hand BMW, I am looking at the BA models and options. I'm not impressed with the Ghia, at least in warm charcoal leather - the door interiors wouldn't be out of place in a Darwin taxi! I went through the exercise of optioning every model with every trick bit I could want. Result Fairmont $57,432, Ghia $63,072, XR8 $64,762, XT $52,012 XR6T $59,272. At the moment, the Fairmont (not Ghia) looks best for me. I expect the 220 V8 is adequate and could be made to sound nice with some Herrod bits. Also get climate control etc. Insurance would be better than XR's and I'm a bit old to want to look too conspicuous - less likely to attract the attention of envious morons with sharpened keys too! (But XR resale probably better).
Ah the dilemmas. Too hard for me. Might just see how the wife's moderately-optioned XT goes before trying to make a final decision.

Definately the XR6.
I would say that the rear power windows are only an option so that the XR6T is a little more upmarket.
I'd say go for the XR6 or maybe the XT V8. Hard decission. Depends what things you place most importance on.

XR6's have never had rear power windows as standard, in fact the AU I XR6 had windups on the front!!
Go the N/A XR6, its going to handle the best for the $$'s, XT V8 will go over the 40K mark not be much quicker (Wheels or Motor got 15.5 from a manual XT V8), won't handle as well and not have as good resale value.
Oh yep, driveaway, XR6 - $39,130 with premium sound and blueprint.
I have a BA Fairmont sedan that I optioned with spoiler 17" wheels and lowered suspension. I originally wanted an XR6 but it doesn't have a performance advatage over the fairmont, and wasn't as nice. I like the climate control and everything the fairmont has. Spend a little bit more to make it as good as an XR6 and you will have a nicer car.
